Quick & Simple Cotton Coasters

Posted by Jorie Jones on

This pattern is great for beginners, learning to work in flat rounds, or stocking up for markets. In the end you have a functional product that you can use for years, match to any decor, and gift in a pinch. I recommend making with 100% cotton for durability and easy of care.

I have chosen to use a combination of herringbone half double crochet and back loop only single crochet to create a subtle texture. Some tutorials will instruct the crocheter to capture the "third loop" when working a back loop stitch, but in this case we want to be sure to not do this. This creates a nice gap within the design that adds interest. Since coasters are not generally weight bearing on their stitches, we do not need the extra stability of capturing the "third loop" for our back loop stitches.

*Disclosure: I only recommend products I would use myself and all opinions expressed here are our own. This post may contain affiliate links that at no additional cost to you, I may earn a small commission.*
